New migrant caravan enters the territory of the state of Veracruz; the eighth to cross Oaxaca in 2024

The migrant caravan that for 10 days walked along the Pan-American and Trans-Isthmus highways in the south of Oaxaca, this morning entered Veracruz territory where it was received by immigration authorities.

Initially made up of about 250 people, the caravan that left today from the Oaxacan community of Palomares, belonging to the municipality of Matías Romero, was now only made up of about 120 migrants.

The caravan, which entered Oaxacan territory last Friday of this month, walked without incident between the municipalities of San Pedro Tapanatepec, Santo Domingo Zanatepec, Santiago Niltepec and Santo Domingo Ingenio.

However, when leaving the Pan-American highway and entering the Trans-Isthmus highway, it was met with discourtesy by the municipal authorities of Matías Romero, who did not offer it any space to rest.

This caravan is the eighth to enter Oaxaca this year, according to figures from immigration authorities, who reported that they are attentive, along with Grupo Beta, to the arrival of other caravans that are being organized in Tapachula, Chiapas.
