During his working tour of Sweden, through a meeting with members of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, the governor of Michoacán, Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, promotes the export of avocado, lemon and berries to the European Union and full coordination to support the development, certification and shipment of agricultural products.
Also, in a working meeting with the Mexican ambassador to Sweden, Alejandro Alday, the directors of this chamber made up of more than 1,300 businessmen and industrialists expressed to Ramírez Bedolla their interest in supporting processes to facilitate the export of agricultural foods in international markets.
In this regard, the governor of Michoacán explained the actions and programs implemented by the administration for the preservation of natural resources and the environment, such as the Guardian Forest satellite surveillance system, which combats and denounces deforestation due to land use change.
He stressed that in Michoacán, voluntary certification of avocados is also promoted and supported to prevent the fruit grown in illegal orchards from being sold, and even, in the case of damage to the forest soil, it is required to repair damages due to environmental impact.
The state leader pointed out that “Michoacán is a leader in agricultural exports in Mexico, where for every three dollars exported, one is from the state, that is, close to 7 billion dollars a year from shipments of avocado, berries, lemon and others such as mango and banana.”
Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla specified that 100 percent of the energy produced in Michoacán is clean and it has the port of Lázaro Cárdenas where 1,400 hectares are available for industrial development.
He pointed out that the work link with the private and public sectors of Sweden is important to attract investment to Michoacán and continue with the environmental care strategy.
For their part, the business representatives of the Chamber of Commerce recognized the actions of the Michoacan governor and expressed their support to continue certification processes, business promotion and legal and commercial advice.
