Over 5,000 tourists have required assistance due to potholes on Campeche’s roads, revealed the Ángeles Verdes. The numerous potholes and holes on the state’s roads have led to a significant number of tire bursts, prompting the General Directorate of Tourist Services ‘Ángeles Verdes’ to aid thousands of tourists in 2024.
The poor condition of Campeche’s roads affects daily travelers, including tourists, as reported by the Ángeles Verdes. According to the corporation, which provides free assistance to all national and international tourists, they have helped numerous individuals stranded due to burst tires from January to October of this year.
Fernando Jacinto Serrano, representative of the Green Angels in Campeche, confirmed that several incidents related to tire bursts or punctures have been attended to due to the poor state of the roads. However, he clarified that other factors contributing to these incidents include driving with excessively high tire pressure or traveling from distant locations and experiencing various complications along the way.
Serrano emphasized that the Ángeles Verdes have provided assistance to 5,339 tourists and 1,607 vehicles, covering a total of 164,192 kilometers in four highway points: Campeche-Halachó, Escárcega-Xpujil, Escárcega-Aguacatal, and Campeche-Punta Xen.
The Ángeles Verdes stressed the importance of respecting speed limits when traveling on the road, as this makes it easier to avoid accidents caused by potholes, stones, or small animals that may be in the road. By driving safely, tourists can minimize their chances of encountering mishaps.
