The National Defense Secretariat (Sedena) arrested José Enrique “N”, known as “El Fantasma” or “El Güero Huachicol”, alleged boss of the Pacific Cartel along with seven other people in Monterrey, Nuevo León.

The arrest was made last Thursday, November 7, as a result of work initiated by the National Center for Intelligence Fusion (CENFI), dependent on the National Intelligence Center (CNI), and in coordination with the Civil Force of Nuevo León (FCNL), while surveillance patrols were being carried out in Monterrey.

During the patrols, José “N” was located accompanied by seven people while they were aboard two vehicles, who were arrested by the police in flagrante delicto while they were in the Cumbres Élite neighborhood, a site where personnel from the National Guard and the Mexican Army carried out a security cordon.

The detainees were found to have drugs, 4 firearms, 4 magazines, 36 cartridges and two vehicles.

Both the detainees and the items seized were placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Monterrey to determine their legal situation and continue with the expert investigations that confirm the characteristics of the weapons and drugs they were carrying.

“El Fantasma” is considered by the authorities to be the main generator of violence in the municipalities of Santa Catarina and García, in Nuevo León.

The Pacific Cartel, better known as the Sinaloa Cartel, is in a strong dispute due to the war that began on September 9 between the two factions that make it up, Los Chapitos and La Mayiza, who after the capture of Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada have caused intense days of violence in Sinaloa.
