The blockade of merchants and beach workers on the Costera Miguel Alemán and Farallón avenues of the port lasted 24 hours, demanding help from the federal government for the effects of Hurricane John.
Some 400 people from the La Diana, Dalina, Papagayo, Pueblito craft markets and the Barra Vieja, Lomas de Chapultepec and San Andrés Playa Encantada beaches spent the night on the tourist road.
Due to this blockade, heavy traffic has been reported all along Farallón Avenue and up to the Y Griega on the federal highway, as well as on Universidad and Costera Vieja avenues.
Although the protesters have cleared the intersection of Farallón with Bellavista and Universidad, traffic congestion is reported, even with the presence of traffic police who help traffic.
Meanwhile, on the Costera, urban trucks arrive at the La Diana roundabout, load passengers there and return to Caleta, Base Naval or the outskirts.
Affected citizens said they were upset by this second consecutive day of protests, since they have to walk and cross the blockade on foot to get to work.
Given the lack of fluid public transportation, some have opted to ask for a ride in private vans.
The merchants indicated that this blockade is for an indefinite period, until they have a positive response from the federal authorities to their request and all the vendors are registered.
As reported by Quadratín Guerrero, around 10 am on Monday, the protesters closed the Costera and roads that connect it at the La Diana roundabout, to demand a census.
