Early this morning, November 15, an armed convoy carried out at least two armed attacks in the municipalities of Zinapécuaro and Queréndaro, Michoacán. The result is one dead and one wounded.
According to reports, the events occurred around 4:00 a.m. this Friday. C5i cameras recorded the moment when armored trucks, “monster” type, entered Zinapécuaro with men with AK-47 and AR-15 rifles.
During their passage, the criminals fired gunshots against the facade of the municipal presidency, threw tire-punctures and burned three vehicles.
Shortly after, a second armed attack was reported, this time in the municipality of Queréndaro, where a member of the local police, identified as Jorge Luis Ponce Gallegos, lost his life.

Through a statement, the Queréndaro City Council reported that the attack also left a municipal agent injured, who was taken to a hospital for medical attention.
Around 8:30 a.m., the same municipality reported that the acts of violence were already under control “thanks to the timely intervention of the authorities,” while the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) of Michoacán announced the deployment of elements of the Civil Guard in both areas.
“Acts of this nature will not be tolerated, which are reactions to various deployments and seizures carried out during the last few days in both municipalities,” the agency reported.
Expo Fiesta Zinapécuaro 2024 Canceled
As a result of these events, the municipal government of Zinapécuaro reported the cancellation of the Expo Fiesta 2024 and the first 5-kilometer athletic race, whose start was scheduled at 8:30 a.m. this Friday.
“In light of the unfortunate events that occurred during the early hours of today in our municipality and with the security and integrity of the people of Zinapecuarenses as a priority, we have decided to cancel them.
We make a strong call to the government of Mexico and the government of Michoacán to implement a joint strategy that guarantees security for each citizen,” he declared.
According to Latinus, a source from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reported that the attack is attributed to a criminal cell linked to the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG). As of the closing of this note, said agency has not issued any statement.
