A video captures the moment a Mérida police officer shot and killed an armed suspect, known as “Bebo,” who had previously caused a disturbance at a local business.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, November 19, residents of the Manzana 115 Subdivision witnessed a Mérida police officer shooting and killing an armed suspect. The incident was recorded on video.

Multiple versions of the confrontation have circulated, but one of the most credible accounts suggests that the deceased had caused a disturbance at a convenience store on 66th Street and 67th Street. Police officers detained him and attempted to subdue him. However, “Bebo” managed to escape and allegedly injured an officer during the struggle.

The suspect was eventually caught in a nearby park, where the fatal shots were fired. A video, which has gone viral on social media, shows the moment a Mérida police officer shot the armed suspect. The six-second clip, recorded from inside a building through a window, shows the suspect running with a knife in his hand, chasing the injured officer. Another uniformed officer is seen running behind them and allegedly shooting “Bebo,” with several gunshots heard.

Elements of the State Investigation Police (PEI) arrived at the scene and arrested one officer. Another officer was receiving medical attention aboard an ambulance, indicating that more than one officer was involved in the incident.
