The Federal Roads and Bridges Department (Capufe) announced that a section of the Veracruz – Puebla highway will have road closures scheduled starting in the next few days. The lanes in the direction of Veracruz will be affected by the hydraulic concrete repair works planned for the last days of November.
The road closures will take place from November 25 to 29, in several isolated sections between kilometers 163 and 171 of highway 150D, between the city of Puebla and the municipality of Acatzingo. The closures will be in the section in the direction of Veracruz, so motorists and transporters traveling to the state of Veracruz should take precautions.
The closures will be intermittent, since they will only be on the low-speed lane (right lane), and will only be from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., while in the following hours the normal flow of vehicles will continue
CAPUFE asked motorists traveling in the direction of Veracruz to take precautions when crossing this section.
These works are expected to increase traffic and travel times, since it is on the same highway 150D where the mudslide occurred that keeps the passage closed in the direction of Veracruz to Puebla, between the municipalities of Maltrata, in Veracruz and Esperanza, in Puebla.
When will the passage affected by the landslide open?
The mudslide that occurred on October 25 on the Orizaba – Puebla highway, at kilometer 230, Acatzingo – Ciudad Mendoza section, keeps the passage of vehicles traveling in the direction of Veracruz to the state of Puebla closed, so traffic between the two entities remains slow and with long detours.
It was just last Friday, November 15, when President Claudia Sheinbaum ordered the Ministry of Communications and Transportation to accelerate the work to free the 150D highway, in the Cumbres de Maltrata area.
During her visit to the state, Sheinbaum announced that she informed the SICT to intensify the work in the area, since it remains affected. However, there is still no set date for the reopening of the pass.
Likewise, on November 18 it was announced that an alternate route was opened, in which vehicles will be able to go around the landslide area.
