Nuevo León, Colima and Sinaloa, the only ones in Mexico with decreasing influenza cases

After 45 weeks of 2024, the states of Colima, Nuevo León and Sinaloa are the only entities in the country, out of 32, with cases of influenza on the decline.

In a year in which Mexico has seen an increase in infections of 106.9 percent, going from 4,778 last year to 9,888 this year.

Likewise, the figures from the National Epidemiological Bulletin highlight that the state of Nuevo León went from second place nationally in 2023 to tenth place in the country in 2024.

This is because, as of week 45 of 2023, the state of Nuevo León accumulated 518 cases of influenza compared to 306 in this period of 2024, which is equivalent to a reduction of 40.92 percent.

According to official data, the other two states with the lowest number of influenza cases are Colima, which dropped from 227 to 107, and Sinaloa, which dropped from 92 to 82.

A year ago, according to the Bulletin, Mexico City was in first place with 654 cases, Nuevo León second with 518, Puebla third with 373, State of Mexico fourth with 270, Zacatecas fifth with 260, and Querétaro sixth with 251.

Meanwhile, in 2024, Mexico City leads with 2,146 cases, followed by Querétaro with 917, Yucatán with 751, State of Mexico with 682, Puebla with 479, Jalisco with 406, Hidalgo with 354, Veracruz with 312, Guerrero with 310, and Nuevo León with 306.
