This Friday, November 22, the 35th edition of the Puerto Escondido International Sailfish Tournament began, which is estimated to have an economic impact of 30 million 331 thousand pesos. More than 300 boats from different parts of the world participate in this competition.
This competition, which will take place until November 24, is organized by the Puerto Escondido Fishing Club, in coordination with the Oaxaca Tourism Secretariat (Sectur) and municipal authorities; the arrival of 15,944 national and international tourists is expected.
The head of the agency, Saymi Pineda Velasco, highlighted that this sport fishing competition is the most important of the year, and is called the “king of tournaments” due to the number of participating boats. On this occasion, they will award prizes of two million 870 thousand pesos to the winners.
He indicated that the Government of the Oaxacan Spring, through the Sectur, promotes activities to attract more visitors to the different tourist destinations in the state, for the benefit of service providers, economic sectors and families, in order to generate a greater flow of resources in favor of the people of the state.
