Chihuahua’s Semefo is overwhelmed by executions; 30 bodies are dehumanized

The constant executions related to score-settling in the city of Chihuahua have saturated the facilities of the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo). Faced with this situation, the State Attorney General’s Office decided to bury 30 bodies in a cemetery in the capital.

According to the government, this action aims to optimize the operational capacity of the Semefo, since the city’s morgues have reached their storage limit.

Burial in the Carrizalillo Cemetery

The burial of the 30 bodies took place in the Carrizalillo cemetery, located in the city of Chihuahua. Of these bodies, 26 correspond to men, three to women and one more could not be determined. None of the bodies had been identified or claimed by relatives at the time of their burial.

Data registration for future identifications

Despite the burial, each body has a detailed record for its eventual identification and claim by relatives. This record includes:

Genetic profiles.
Forensic photography.
Dental analysis.
Fingerprint.
DNA samples.

These measures seek to ensure that, in the event that a family member claims the remains, there is a reliable basis for confirming the identity.
