“El Menonita” Found Dead in Escárcega: Conflicting Reports on Cause of Death

The body of M.L.A., 40, known as “El Menonita,” was discovered by his relatives in the yard of his home in the rural colony La Chiquita. There are conflicting reports about his death, with one version suggesting he was beaten to death by unknown assailants, while another indicates he committed suicide with a gunshot to the head.

Emergency medical personnel from the Red Cross and elements of the Secretariat of Protection and Citizen Security (SPSC) arrived at the scene but could not revive him. The area was cordoned off, and the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) was called to collect evidence.

Conflicting Versions

– First Version: Around 6:45 a.m., the man’s mother found his body under a tree with a gunshot wound to the head, suggesting he shot himself. The Red Cross confirmed he had no vital signs upon arrival.

– Second Version: Unknown assailants allegedly entered the house during the early hours, forcibly took him to the patio, and beat him with blunt objects before delivering a fatal gunshot. His mother discovered the body in the morning.

The Regional Vice-Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the incident. Neighbors reported not hearing any noises or noticing any unknown persons during the early morning hours.
