Transport associations are asking the National Guard to intervene on Highway 57 of the Mexico-Querétaro highway with the Radar operation, to control the speed of trailers, stop the sale of drugs in the area and improve security, because the accidents that have occurred have stopped traffic for up to 15 hours.
Lauro Rincón, leader of the Mexican American Federation of Transporters and Carlos García, leader of the Mexican Alliance of Transporters Organizations (Amotac) in the State of Mexico, highlighted that the highway has become the largest parking lot in Mexico due to vehicle accidents, whose incidence is between two and 10 per day.
National Guard would carry out operations
He said that for more than a year the National Guard announced that it would participate with radars to measure the speed of vehicles traveling on the highway, which has not been specified.
He commented that at each meeting of the associations, the application of the Radar operation is being requested, because people are driving at excessive speed and this has caused a high rate of accidents, the last two caused a 15-hour closure of the highway, which brought the annoyance of the users.
The leader pointed out that the 3 Delta operations are necessary, to rule out any type of narcotics in the Heavy Service.
“There is a high consumption of prohibited substances in the famous hookahs (illegal establishments where illicit substances are sold) on the highways,” he said.
It is difficult to draw up a report in the Public Ministry
He pointed out that another problem that affects drivers is insecurity, so far this year, on the Mexico-Querétaro and on the Mexiquense Outer Circuit there have been four drivers killed by crime.
Carlos García, for his part, stressed that they hope that the new Secretariat of Citizen Security of the State of Mexico gets to work, since at least two assaults on truckers are reported daily.
He even regretted that the authorities do not even have the exact data on the insecurity experienced by truckers, since it is difficult to file a report with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and those affected prefer not to report it, since when they do, they are victims of extortion.
