Eight police officers arrested in Morelos for alleged involvement in a forced disappearance

At least seven state police officers and one municipal officer from Emiliano Zapata, Morelos, were arrested this Sunday for their probable participation in a case of forced disappearance that occurred in 2022.

The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Morelos confirmed to Latinus that the arrests of the officers are part of an investigation file against the State Public Security Commission headed by Admiral José Antonio Ortiz Guarneros, during the government of Cuauhtémoc Blanco.

Among those arrested are five men and two women assigned to the State Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection and a man in police functions in Emiliano Zapata.

The eight officers are in preventive detention while the hearing for their linkage to the process takes place, the prosecutor’s office specified.

Local media claim that the officers are accused of their probable participation in the disappearance of Job “N”, which occurred three years ago.

Job “N” was arrested and transferred to the Emiliano Zapata command; However, since then, his relatives have not known his whereabouts.

The State Public Security Commission disappeared with the arrival of Governor Margarita González in October 2024.

Of the 121,855 missing and unlocated people in the country, 1,936 were reported in Morelos.
