The Magic Town will host the “Reto Morelos 2026” on September 6, featuring a 35-kilometer route
The competition will promote visitor arrivals and consumption of local tourism services and experiences.
The Magic Town of Tepoztlán will host the “Reto Morelos 2026” on Sunday, September 6, a mountain biking competition that will promote visitor arrivals and create consumption opportunities for tourism service providers, businesses, and local families.
With a 35-kilometer route and an open call for participants from different states across the country, the event is part of the Morelos Government’s strategy to diversify its tourism offerings and connect sports and nature with lodging, food, transportation, commerce, and destination experiences.
During the presentation, Tourism Secretary Daniel Altafi Valladares emphasized that the goal is to extend the benefits of these competitions to the territories and their communities.
“We want every event to have an impact beyond the competition: for those who come to Morelos to discover our destinations, buy local, visit our communities, and contribute to tourism activity creating opportunities for more families,” he said.
The “Reto Morelos” has a favorable precedent: its 2025 edition, held in Tlayacapan, brought together more than 1,000 cyclists and generated an estimated economic impact of more than one million pesos.
For 2026, Tepoztlán will host the competition, which combines sports and nature and gives participants and their companions the opportunity to complement their stay with the tourism offerings of the Magic Town.
The presentation was attended by Perseo Quiroz Rendón, municipal president of Tepoztlán; José Luis Sosa Limón, president of the Mexican Council of Sports Tourism; Francisco Javier Medina González, director of El Tepozteco National Park; and representatives of Ayuwokis Bikes Tepoztlán, as part of the coordination for the development of the competition and its connection with the destination.
With the “Reto Morelos 2026,” the Government of “The Land That Unites Us” is strengthening its sports tourism agenda as a tool to attract visitors, promote destinations, and generate economic activity in host communities, while expanding the presence of this segment within Morelos’ tourism offerings, “The Springtime of Mexico.”
