At a press conference, the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, and the Secretary of Tourism of Baja California, Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez, officially presented the Tianguis Turístico 2025, which will take place from April 28 to May 1 at the Baja California Center, in Playas de Rosarito.
The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) reiterated that the 49th edition of the Tianguis Turístico will be the first to have a Mexican-American character, with activities in Baja California and San Diego, to respond to the growing interest that exists on the part of buyers from the United States and Canada for Mexican destinations.
In this sense, she highlighted that so far there is confirmation from the 32 states of the Republic, as well as the attendance of 300 hosted buyers, of which 80 percent are from the United States and Canada, the rest will come from Europe, Asia and Latin America.
He added that the Tianguis Turístico has broken a record with 924 buyers from 624 companies from 26 countries around the world, of which 40 percent are from the United States and Canada.
Rodríguez Zamora specified that, in an area of 26 thousand square meters with a capacity of between 10 and 15 thousand people, in the biggest tourism festival in America, tourists will be able to learn about the greatness and what makes Mexico different from other countries, its ancient culture, its pre-Hispanic traditions preserved and represented in its dances, crafts and gastronomy; consequently, the arrival of visitors will continue to increase, which will impact the economic spillover for the communities, Native Peoples and Afro-descendants.
He also pointed out that the Tianguis Turístico “will not be limited to the exhibition center, which is the place where commercial activity, business meetings, and exchanges of tourist products for sale to the states take place. Activations will also be carried out in municipalities such as Ensenada, Tijuana, and Valle de Guadalupe, which will promote and give presence to Baja California.”
He commented that important announcements will also be made that will strengthen tourist activity, such as the relaunch of the Visit Mexico platform that will include artificial intelligence, dynamic maps, and immersive experiences to improve the personalization of content focused on travelers; as well as the launch of “La Gran Escapada, El Buen Fin del Turismo,” a joint initiative with the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (Concanaco Servytur) that seeks to encourage tourism through exclusive promotions and offers on lodging, transportation, and tourist activities.
Within this framework, in San Diego, United States, activations will be carried out such as the Ventana a México event at Liberty Station; A Punto México will be installed at the Consulate of San Diego, where crafts, local products and tourist destinations from Mexico will be exhibited, which will show the diversity of experiences that our country offers.
For his part, Aguíñiga Rodríguez commented that this edition of the Tianguis Turístico, which will be held for the first time in northern Mexico, has generated great expectations in the industry, which demonstrates the interest and confidence in Baja California as a venue for high-impact events.
He stressed that this is an unparalleled opportunity to show the wealth and diversity of tourism in the state. From its impressive natural landscapes to its gastronomy, wines and beers of international quality, Baja California is ready to welcome visitors and professionals from the sector with an attractive and competitive offer.
During the presentation, Luis Antonio Zaldívar Sánchez, president of the National Chamber of Passenger and Tourism Transportation, Ignacio Alarcón Rodríguez Pacheco, president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry, was present; Felipe Cervantes Vega, president of the Mexican Association of Travel Agencies; Maria de Lourdes Prieto Márquez, executive president of the National Tourism Business Council; Enrique Calderón, vice president of Hotel Operations for Grupo Posadas, among other special guests.
