The National Civil Protection Coordination (CNPC), in conjunction with state and federal authorities, continues cleanup and recovery efforts in the municipality of Reynosa following the intense rains recorded on March 26 and 27, which caused historic damage in the area.
According to the CNPC, 1,950 people who were at risk or trapped inside their vehicles were rescued as part of a rapid and effective mobilization of emergency services.

Currently, efforts are focused on cleaning, sanitizing, and collecting damaged property from homes, schools, streets, and avenues. These actions seek to restore normalcy to the affected areas.
The National Meteorological Service reported that 316 mm of rain accumulated in just 48 hours, representing 77% of the annual average for Reynosa (409.7 mm), confirming the magnitude of the phenomenon.
Given this situation, the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), the Navy (Semar), and the National Guard (GN) activated the DNIII-E emergency plans, the Marine Plan, and the National Guard (GN). A Liaison and Coordination Mission (ECO) was also deployed by the CNPC, and Conagua and CFE activated their own response protocols.
During the most critical moments, 1,961 public servants were mobilized, supported by 271 vehicles, heavy machinery, 17 pumping units, 11 boats, and a community kitchen that assisted the victims.
Temporary shelters were set up with medical care and basic services, and food deliveries were also coordinated. The unified command post, headed by Governor Américo Villarreal and CNPC head Laura Velázquez Alzúa, held nine meetings to coordinate strategies.
Finally, authorities continue to work on mud removal, waste collection, and housing rehabilitation, reaffirming the Mexican government’s commitment to the affected population and their well-being.
