The Mexico City-Puebla-Veracruz train could be routed through San Martín Texmelucan or Apizaco, according to the governor of the state of Puebla, Alejandro Armenta Mier.
The head of the Executive Branch commented that, regarding the project, they continue to hold several working groups with the federal government, led by the president of the Republic, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
“The Mexico City-Puebla-Veracruz train is being analyzed. The president mentioned that she is serving the northern trains; the infrastructure secretaries have met many times, and the route is being analyzed. The idea is for it to be AIFA, Puebla City,” he mentioned.
The project contemplates connecting AIFA with Hermanos Serdán Airport.
The Puebla governor said that, with the arrival of this train, the possibility of connecting Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) with Hernando Serdán Airport is being analyzed to facilitate travel for passengers.
“They are evaluating the route through San Martín Texmelucan, or the route through Apizaco, and the possibility of connecting the AIFA with the Hermanos Serdán Airport is being analyzed, which would be extraordinary. So those issues are being analyzed. They are projects, macro-projects, but we are already dedicated to reviewing and addressing the issue,” he added.
He also reported that the first phase of construction of the Intermixteca and Interserrana highways is scheduled to begin this year, which will yield favorable results in terms of trade, transportation, and tourism.
“The Intermixteca highway will begin this year on two fronts. The Interserrana highway, which was a commitment of ours, is also starting with a very important section when we have the machinery. We will address the other front, in terms of what it entails connecting the Sierra Norte with the Sierra Nororiental. The Sierra Negra highway will also be addressed in terms of roads with the machinery modules we are acquiring,” he mentioned.
