On the border between Chiapas and Guatemala, security authorities from all three levels of government are conducting a major operation in the municipality of Amatenango de la Frontera.
There, they seized a significant arsenal of weapons, explosives, vehicles, and suspected drugs. The security operation is part of an effort to combat organized crime activities.

During the operation, the following were seized:
Two long weapons, including a .223 caliber rifle and an AR-15
Four 40 mm caliber grenades
One 20 mm explosive cartridge
Two magazines (one for an AK-47 and one for a .50 caliber rifle)
150 rounds of ammunition
Authorities also seized approximately:
570 grams of explosive material known as C-4
Three cylindrical metal bodies ready to be detonated
12 metal objects allegedly designed to be launched by drones
18 metal tailpipes
6 bags of gunpowder
5 vehicles, two of them reported stolen and one with factory-made armored vehicle.
During the operation, four packages containing green marijuana, weighing approximately one kilogram each, were seized.
All the seized material was handed over to the competent authorities, who will begin the corresponding investigations to determine the responsibility of those involved.
