The dollar fell 0.41 percent against the safe-haven Japanese currency to 146,255 yen today, April 7, after falling more than 1.4 percent in the previous session and extending its 2 percent drop against the Japanese currency since last week.

The dollar also hit its lowest level in six months against the Swiss franc, falling 0.7 percent to $0.8545.

Investors flocked to safe-haven assets such as the dollar, the yen, and the Swiss franc, amid the sharp decline in global markets, with Asian stocks plummeting while Wall Street futures plummeted. Given the growing risk of a deep economic recession, a U.S. interest rate cut is expected in May.

How much is the Mexican peso worth against the dollar today?

The Mexican peso depreciated in line with a renewed slump in foreign markets due to persistent concerns about a global recession following the sweeping tariffs announced by US President Donald Trump last week.

The currency was trading at 20.69 pesos per dollar, down around 1.35 percent compared to yesterday’s LSEG reference price, when it recorded its worst percentage drop since June of last year.

“Investors remain alert to possible negotiations on reciprocal tariffs, as the chances of a global economic recession increase,” Monex Grupo Financiero said in an analysis note.
