According to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), Tamaulipas contributed 6.6% of the national total, the same as Guanajuato.
During the fourth quarter of 2024, Tamaulipas consolidated its position as Mexico’s fifth-largest exporting state, surpassing Guanajuato with exports valued at $9.6 billion.5 billion, the highest figure in 17 years.
How much has Tamaulipas increased its exports compared to 2023?
Tamaulipas’ exports increased 10.8% compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, demonstrating sustained growth in this sector.
In contrast, Guanajuato’s exports decreased 2.5% during the same period.
The Quarterly Exports by State report, released this Monday, March 31, indicates that Chihuahua, with 13.9 percent of total exports; Coahuila, with 11.9 percent; Baja California, with 10.6 percent; and Nuevo León, with 10.5 percent, lead the ranking of the top five.
What are the most prominent sectors?
Tamaulipas stood out in two export subsectors: the manufacture of accessories, electrical appliances, and power generation equipment; and the manufacture of computer, communication, and measurement equipment, as well as other electronic components and accessories.
In the first subsector, the state ranked third nationwide with $1,028.7 million, while in the second subsector, it ranked fourth with $2,150.1 million.
