San Cristóbal City Council officials, as well as representatives from the state government, military personnel, and the National Guard, witnessed the crowning of Karla Maritza I. as Queen of the 2025 Spring and Peace Fair, in its 155th edition. This celebration is one of the most important festivals for the people of San Cristóbal. More than a thousand people, including residents and visitors, gathered in front of the San Cristóbal Museum (MUSAC) to witness the event.
Municipal authorities emphasized that thousands of people from different regions come to San Cristóbal de Las Casas to visit its people, admire the richness of its ethnic groups, its facades, and churches, walk its cobblestone streets, taste its cuisine, and enjoy its many cultural events, which represent the identity of this tourist destination. Visitors were also invited to tour the fairgrounds, located south of the colonial city.
In the presence of state and federal guests, as well as the general public, municipal authorities expressed their satisfaction with the enthusiastic response from the population, which continues to preserve its Coleta identity and traditions, reaffirming that San Cristóbal is a safe place to visit.
Mayor Fabiola Ricci Diestel crowned Karla Maritza I. in a ceremony held at noon this Sunday, kicking off one of the largest celebrations in San Cristóbal de Las Casas. This marks the 155th page in the history of the Spring and Peace Fair, commemorating a new cycle of joy, tradition, and collective pride, with thousands of tourists attending.
During the next eight days of festivities, national, international, state, and local artists will perform, as well as a diverse array of cultural, sports, traditional, artistic, bullfighting, gastronomic, musical, and social activities will take place in the city’s most representative venues.
The mayor called on the citizens of Coleta and its visitors to enjoy the municipality’s most important festival with respect, cordiality, and hospitality—values that characterize the region—to experience these festivities in an atmosphere of harmony, happiness, and family unity. “I cordially invite you to fully enjoy it, to laugh, to sing,” she expressed.
After the Queen’s coronation, a parade of more than twenty floats took place, with the participation of bands, orchestras, and the queens of various companies and associations. The contingent departed from the white bridge, passing in front of the stage set up in the central park. More than 15,000 people gathered for this parade. In the evening, thousands of visitors are expected to attend the 155th edition of the 2025 Spring and Peace Fair.
