In an obvious effort to safeguard and preserve the flavors, colors, memories, diversity, and creativity of Tamaulipas’ gastronomy, the Ministry of Tourism is promoting the certification of traditional cooks; so far, 20 have been certified.

Which municipalities have already certified them?

Originally from the municipalities of Gómez Farías, Miquihuana, Tampico, and Ciudad Victoria, they are now among the cooks certified by the Ministry of Tourism.

Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez, Secretary of Tourism in Tamaulipas, stated that the goal is to preserve their cultural heritage and protect the most representative dishes of each locality.

He said: “20 traditional cooks from the municipalities of Gómez Farías, Miquihuana, Tampico, and the capital of Tamaulipas, Ciudad Victoria, have obtained certification in the standard for preparing popular and traditional Mexican food.”

What is the goal of certifying more cooks in the state?

He stated that this measure constitutes an additional incentive, which will also strengthen Tamaulipas’ tourism offering by providing a unique and enriching gastronomic experience, not only for the area but also for the tourists who frequent us.

The Tourism official also reported that a project is already underway to establish a food corridor on the Inter-Ejidal Highway in Ciudad Victoria.

“Discussions are already underway with restaurant owners in the region, a place that has become a highly visited spot due to its excellent seasoning, among other ingredients,” he expressed.

I declare that Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya constantly strives to encourage the participation and collaboration of all families in the municipal and regional progress of Tamaulipas, a state that possesses all of this.
