Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya held a working meeting with the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, to whom he presented the progress and indicators that position Tamaulipas as one of the safest states in the country and the safest on the northern border.

During the meeting, García Harfuch acknowledged the positive results in security and crime prevention and agreed to strengthen coordination with the Federal Government to continue ensuring the peace of mind of Tamaulipas families.

One of the most relevant data presented by the governor was the historic reduction in intentional homicides in the state. While in 2017, up to 147 cases were reported per month, in March and April 2025 the number dropped to 18 and 17, respectively, according to reports from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System.

Secretary García Harfuch reiterated the Mexican government’s commitment to continue supporting Tamaulipas in strengthening its actions against insecurity.
