Santagloria, the Coffee & Bakery chain of the multi-brand restaurant group FoodBox, has signed a master franchise agreement for Mexico, allowing it to advance its international expansion plan, with the expected opening of at least 50 establishments of the brand in the next five years in the country.

The company responsible for Santagloria’s development in Mexico will be Marcas Indef, led by José Irabién, who already manages several establishments of the brand in Madrid and the Basque Country. Furthermore, new openings are planned in Bilbao and San Sebastián, bringing its network to a total of 10 locations open or under development by the end of 2025 in Spain.

This agreement marks a decisive step in Santagloria’s expansion beyond the Iberian Peninsula, where it has a consolidated presence of 180 establishments (in Spain, Portugal, and Andorra). Furthermore, in 2023 and 2024, it was among the three brands with the highest number of openings in Spain.

FoodBox President Enrique Francia emphasized that this alliance in Mexico confirms the strong reception its business model is receiving and strengthens its growth strategy. “We will continue to focus on Santagloria’s international expansion, consolidating its position as one of the most relevant brands in the coffee & bakery segment,” he emphasized.

For his part, the founder of Marcas Indef, José Irabién, emphasized that Santagloria is “one of the brands with the greatest appeal and growth potential within its business segment and in the organized restaurant sector in general.”

“In this sense, we take on the challenge of managing the brand’s first international master franchise agreement with pride and responsibility. I am convinced that this collaboration agreement will be a true success and will take the brand to new levels of growth,” he added.
