In the cities of Guamúchil and Mocorito, in the Évora region, armed men in pickup trucks were reported to have fired at homes. There is no information yet on whether any people were injured in these actions, which forced businesses to close and residents to hide in their homes.
The first reports of clashes between rival groups to emergency lines located the incident on the highway that connects the city of Guamúchil, from the municipality of Salvador Alvarado to the municipal seat of Mocorito.
Residents of several neighborhoods in the city of Guamúchil reported the entry of a caravan of vehicles with armed men, who collided with their rivals and fired at several homes. There are no reports of injuries or deaths in these disputes.
In the Cuauhtémoc neighborhood of the city of Guamúchil, a large property was hit by more than 100 automatic weapons shots fired at its front. It is not known if the property was inhabited, as federal authorities arrived at the scene this afternoon.
The same occurred in the neighboring municipality of Mocorito, where security forces were alerted to armed confrontations between rival groups and shots fired at the front of homes. Authorities have not released any details about these incidents.
Mexico-Nogales Highway Blocked
Following clashes between rival groups and attacks on homes in the cities of Guamúchil and Mocorito, it was reported that the Mexico-Nogales Highway, near Las Brisas, in Guasave, was blocked with two semi-trucks, stranding dozens of drivers traveling in both directions.
Drivers are being warned on social media not to drive in the area, fearing that confrontations between opposing groups could escalate into violent disputes and result in them being caught in the crossfire.
