Stations on Line 2 and Line 6 of the Mexico City (CDMX) Metro will be closed until further notice, the Collective Transportation System (STC) announced on Saturday morning, May 3, 2025.

The announcement was made through the official Mexico City Metro account, along with information on alternative routes so that commuters using these routes can travel more efficiently and avoid inconveniences. At around 6:00 a.m. this Saturday, the Metro announced the closure of some stations:

Line 2: Zócalo
Line 6: Lindavista
Due to the closure of the Zócalo station, the Metro recommended the following alternatives:

Pino Suárez and Allende, Line 2
San Juan de Letrán, Line 8
Bellas Artes, Line 2 / Line 8

Customers were asked to take precautions to arrive at their destinations on time due to these closures, which will remain in effect until further notice.

Why did the Lindavista Metro close?

According to the STC (Spanish Technical Commission), the Lindavista Metro is closed due to a fire that broke out outside the station.

It was this Friday, May 2nd, when, around 6:30 p.m., a fire was reported at the intersection of Colector and Payta streets in the Lindavista neighborhood of the Gustavo A. Madero Municipality (GAM) in Mexico City, generating intense mobilization in the area.

People were evacuated as a preventive measure while the fire was being addressed, and no injuries were reported.

The fire affected an encampment located in that area, an irregular settlement that has existed since the 1985 earthquake; it is estimated that some 25 homes were consumed by the flames.

In response, the mayor of GAM, Janecarlo Lozano, pledged to provide supplies to the affected people in the irregular settlement called Colector 13; he also announced that he will conduct a census to rebuild the damaged homes.
