Zacatecas transporters threaten to block mines

Zacatecas transporters threatened to block access to mining companies if they continue to be denied freight contracts and favored by carriers from other states.

Mario Acuña, president of Transportistas Unidos Ejido Morelos S.A. (TUEMSA), announced the closure of the Frisco Tayahua and Aranzazú mining companies, located in the municipalities of Mazapil and Concepción de Oro.

The exhaustion of Zacatecas transporters is clearly evident, with the injustices they are suffering from foreign companies and foreign carriers who come to take our jobs to lower costs.

On May 1, nearly 80 freight vehicles participated in a caravan held in the city of Zacatecas and delivered a petition to the state representative of the Ministry of the Interior (Segob), demanding their intervention so that the industry can stop discriminating against local transporters.

We haven’t received a response yet (…) but if it takes too long, we will implement blockades against the company, Frisco Tayahua, and Aranzazú simultaneously.

Mario Acuña, president of Transportistas Unidos Ejido Morelos S.A.

In a press conference, he added: “We don’t want it to come to this. We would like the companies to become aware and start working differently. There is a terrible feeling of weariness among Zacatecas transporters. We are going to defend our work.”

Another of the transporters’ complaints is that the company Frisco Tayahua made false accusations of mineral theft against an operator, to whom they expressed their solidarity.
