Querétaro Mayor Felifer Macías Olvera issued a strong warning to motorcycle groups challenging authority in the historic center after an operation that resulted in four arrests, three referred to civic courts, and one to the Prosecutor’s Office for injuring a police officer.
“For anyone who wants to disturb the order, who wants to violate the regulations and laws of the city, there will be consequences,” declared Macías Olvera, firmly supporting the actions of the Municipal Public Security Secretariat following the incidents.
Zero tolerance for traffic disorder
During the confrontation, a security officer suffered leg injuries while trying to stop a motorcyclist who fled, damaging several vehicles in his escape attempt.
The mayor confirmed that the person responsible will face charges for both the injuries to the officer and the damage caused to public and private property.
“The complaint is directed in that direction, not only for the injuries to the police officer but also for the damage caused to both public and private property,” the mayor stated.
Openness to dialogue with clear rules
Despite his firm stance, the mayor reiterated his willingness to engage in dialogue with motorcycle organizations, but made it clear that any agreement must be within the framework of respect for current regulations.
“We will always be open to dialogue with any group from any sector, to reach a consensus on different expressions, but never outside the regulations, never outside the law,” he emphasized.
The message also appears to be directed at other groups that have blocked roads such as 5 de Febrero, warning that municipal authorities will maintain a firm stance against those who disturb public order in the capital of Querétaro.
