Governor Tere Jiménez and executives of TAR México announced the operation of a new air route from Aguascalientes to La Paz, Baja California Sur, strengthening the state’s national and international connectivity, which is one of its main competitive advantages for attracting business, investment, and tourism to the state.
“Thank you to TAR México for giving us the opportunity for this important connection. I am sure they made the right decision, because this route will help Aguascalientes continue to have significant national and international exposure. Furthermore, Baja California Sur is a great state, which, like Aguascalientes, is distinguished by its growth and safety,” the governor emphasized.
Alberto Chávez Sánchez, general director of TAR México, explained that the new flight will be on a 50-seat Embraer ERJ-145 jet and will begin operating on July 7, with a frequency of four days a week: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. He said the outbound flight will depart Aguascalientes at 6:40 p.m. and arrive in La Paz at 7:25 p.m.; the return flight will depart La Paz, Baja California Sur, at 1:00 p.m. and arrive in Aguascalientes at 3:40 p.m. He added that this flight will also have a 20-minute stopover between Aguascalientes and Hermosillo.
“With this route, we are bringing Aguascalientes, one of the most prosperous states in the country in terms of GDP per capita, with a thriving industry, dynamic commerce, and a rich history and culture, closer to the city of La Paz, a world-class tourist destination with dream beaches, captivating cuisine, and one of the most diverse and spectacular ecotourism offerings in Mexico. Both regions are strategic for us,” he emphasized.
The Secretary of Tourism and Economy of the Baja California Sur State Government, Rosa Maribel Collins Sánchez, celebrated the announcement of this new route between the two states. “I am very happy with the announcement of this new route between Aguascalientes and La Paz. Thank you, Governor Tere Jiménez, for your determination and persistence in making it a reality. I want to tell you that in La Paz you have a great, friendly, and sustainable destination; we are a region with a lot of magic and charm. I invite you today to visit us; you won’t regret it,” she said.
Finally, the Secretary of Tourism of the Aguascalientes State Government, Mauricio González López, reported that this new route is a demonstration and a result of the trust shown in the state of Aguascalientes. He noted that so far this year, the number of passengers transported by air has increased by more than six percent compared to last year. “We project that we will soon reach one million passengers annually and thereby consolidate our position as leaders in the region,” he stated.
Also present at the press conference held at the Government Palace were Leonardo Montañez Castro, mayor of Aguascalientes; Ángel García Colín, commercial director of TAR México; Petros Davutakis Arellano, general director of the Aguascalientes International Airport; Representative Salvador Alcalá Durán, president of the Economic Development, Cooperative Development, and Tourism Commission of the Honorable State Congress; and David Enrique Morán Lomelí, Secretary of Economy and Tourism for the Municipality of Aguascalientes.
