On the Zitácuaro and Benito Juárez highway in the eastern region of Michoacán, criminal groups set fire to six vehicles in an attempt to block traffic, residents of this area reported. Located at the entrance to Tierra Caliente on the way to Tiquicheo.
The Michoacán Public Security Secretariat reported a clash between opposing organized crime groups, with no injuries reported. The shootings occurred Saturday morning near the towns of Guanoro and Los Zapotes.
Traffic was restored before noon following the intervention of federal and state forces. It should be noted that the security booth located at the entrance to Guanoro, on the Benito Juárez-Zitácuaro highway, was also set on fire by an armed group.
The Ministry of Security and military sources confirmed that the armed confrontation is part of a dispute between cells of the Jalisco cartel and members of the Familia Michoacana, which operates in the state of Mexico and in the eastern part of Michoacán.
