Three days a week to escape to Ixtapa; details of the new Volaris route

Starting July 4th, Volaris will launch a new route directly connecting Morelia and the Bajío region with the heavenly destination of Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, in the state of Guerrero. With three weekly flights—Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays—this connection promises to facilitate access to one of the most enchanting corners of the Mexican Pacific.

With this new option, travelers will be able to reduce travel times while promoting tourism and strengthening the economies of both regions.

Pedro Castelán Reyna, executive director of the Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Convention and Visitors Bureau, expressed his enthusiasm for this new phase:

“We are thrilled and literally feel butterflies with this news, which is part of this important step that facilitates faster and more direct access to our destination, allowing more people to experience the unparalleled experience of Ixtapa Zihuatanejo.”

The official also thanked Volaris, the state governments of Guerrero and Michoacán, the municipal government of Zihuatanejo, and the hotel associations for their combined efforts to promote tourism.

The Bajío region, which includes cities such as Uruapan, Zamora, Celaya, Salamanca, and León, will especially benefit from this route. For many residents of these cities, reaching the ocean used to require up to eight hours of road travel. Now, in just over an hour, they can enjoy beaches like La Ropa and Playa Las Gatas, along with the traditional flavors of Guerrero.

Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo currently has direct flights from Tijuana, Querétaro, and Mexico City. With this new addition, the air connectivity of this destination, which combines the modernity of Ixtapa with the traditional charm of Zihuatanejo, is strengthened.
