Animal rescue operations in San Luis Potosí will continue, announced Juan Antonio Villa, Municipal Secretary of Public Security. This comes after the detection of a location where prohibited bird and reptile species were being sold. Several businesses are known to be involved in this type of illegal activity in the city.
Recently, an operation resulted in the seizure of more than 150 different birds and seven dogs that were hidden in a home that operated as a veterinary clinic.
The police chief emphasized the importance of citizens remaining vigilant and reporting these types of situations, as citizen participation has been key to dismantling these trafficking networks.
Villa warned that he will not alert those involved in the sale and trafficking of animal species. However, he assured that operations are already being designed to secure more species in several locations about which information has been received, including markets and street markets in the capital.
