Tamaulipas has been included in the 2025-2030 National Highway Infrastructure Plan of President Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration, with the development of the Gulf North Corridor, an ambitious highway project that seeks to strengthen connectivity between the northern border and southeastern Tamaulipas.
This project, currently in the analysis phase, involves a combined investment estimated at 40 billion pesos and covers an approximate route of 503 kilometers, strategically connecting Nuevo Laredo with Ciudad Victoria and concluding in Tampico.
What does the Gulf North Corridor project entail?
The Government of Mexico announced that, among the projects considered for the state, two key interventions for the southern region stand out:
The modernization of 67 kilometers of the Ciudad Valles-Tampico highway, which will be widened from two to four lanes.
The start of the Pachuca-Tampico connection, as part of the Pachuca-Huejutla axis, whose construction will begin this year.
These projects will strengthen connectivity between the Huasteca region and the Gulf of Mexico coast, directly benefiting the states of Tamaulipas and San Luis Potosí.
In addition to the Gulf of Mexico Corridor, what other infrastructure projects are coming to Tamaulipas?
In this regard, the State Secretary of Public Works, Pedro Cepeda Anaya, reported that the close coordination between the government of Américo Villarreal Anaya and the federal government makes it possible for strategic projects for the development of Tamaulipas to be included within the National Plan.
In this regard, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation also announced that it will strengthen trade between Mexico and the United States, consolidating Tamaulipas as a key point in the country’s border infrastructure network.
With these actions, Tamaulipas is positioning itself as a key entity in strengthening national infrastructure, improving mobility, reducing travel times, and laying the foundation for greater economic and social competitiveness.
