The Morelia-Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo flight route, which will begin operating on July 4, currently has promotions starting at 1,600 pesos, on average, for a round-trip flight. The flight will be direct and will take you to either destination in 45 minutes, according to Volaris executives.
At a press conference, they shared that promotions will be offered as flight occupancy increases, but prices will increase accordingly, ranging from 1,700 to 1,800 pesos, including taxes.
They pointed out that the inaugural Morelia-Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo flight currently has a 70 percent occupancy rate.
They clarified that the idea is not to reduce car travel to what is known as the “Ixtapazo,” but rather to speed up these family trips after completing their daily activities.
They reiterated that the flight’s launch date was chosen because it practically coincides with the start of the summer vacation season and could boost both destinations’ tourism sector.
