When questioned about Lorena Cuéllar Cisneros’s administration, former Tlaxcala governor Mariano González Zarur preferred to say that he hasn’t read news about the state for a long time, as he only looks for articles that “deeply interest” him.
González Zarur stated that he only reads business articles from national newspapers and that’s the only way he understands how the country is doing; however, he did not specify whether he is interested in the state’s situation at the local level.
During the tribute to Emilio Sánchez Piedras, he recalled that the population is the only one who can assess the situation of Tlaxcala’s new leaders.
Likewise, when asked if he will continue in the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), he simply replied: “I’m dreaming,” while denying that the party is on the verge of collapse, highlighting that Morena currently has 90 percent of the journalists.
He acknowledged that thanks to the party, he managed to become a deputy, president, and governor, as well as a state and national leader. For this reason, he asserted that he has always remained grateful.
Finally, he preferred to remain on the sidelines, noting that he currently disagrees with the national and state leadership.
“Therefore, when one is not convinced by the leadership, it is better to remain on the sidelines.”
