Tlaxcala is preparing to host the 2026 National Meeting for Water Culture (ENxCA), which will take place on April 23 and 24 at the Federico Silva Ecological Park in the capital city of San Hipólito Chimalpa. This event solidifies the state’s position as a hub for technical and social dialogue on water issues.

The event will bring together specialists, researchers, academics, government representatives, business leaders, and staff from water utilities to exchange experiences, strengthen capacities, and promote citizen participation strategies in the management of drinking water and sanitation in Mexico.

The Director General of the State Water and Sanitation Commission (CEAS), Israel Tobón Solano, emphasized the importance of holding this meeting in Tlaxcala, a result of the work and vision of Governor Lorena Cuéllar Cisneros, who has successfully positioned the state as a national leader in water resource management.

Tlaxcala is becoming a space for national dialogue where solutions are being developed. Water culture is not just a technical issue; it is a shared responsibility that involves education, social awareness, and coordination among institutions. Israel Tobón Solano
For two days, the program includes keynote addresses, panel discussions, and opportunities to exchange experiences. It will begin on Thursday, April 23, with the keynote address “Water Culture Strategies in Tlaxcala,” followed by the presentation of EC0180 certificates for promoting water culture and the opening ceremony.

That same day, panels will be held on the regulatory and budgetary framework, the relationship between water and gender, as well as institutional outreach efforts and experiences in implementing water culture programs. Success stories will also be discussed, and the book “My Zahuapan-Atoyac River That Gives Life,” published by CEAS Tlaxcala, will be presented.

On Friday, April 24, the activities will include the presentation of the National Water Culture Award, as well as panels on water education and culture in Latin America and the Caribbean, conflict management in indigenous communities, innovation for the future of water, and sustainable projects in Mexico. The event will conclude with a closing ceremony.

The ENxCA has established itself as a key forum for the exchange of ideas, best practices, and experiences related to water resource management and conservation, promoting dialogue among different sectors and strengthening water culture in the country.

With this event, Tlaxcala reaffirms its commitment to sustainability, environmental education, and the development of public policies that guarantee responsible and equitable access to water.
