US Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart leveled a serious accusation against Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, alleging she is “complicit in human trafficking” through the Cuban doctors program.
According to the congressman, US law prohibits funding countries or entities that profit from what he described as the “exploitation” of Cuban doctors, and he even warned of potential visa restrictions for officials involved.
The statement raises international tensions and puts Mexico’s agreement with the Cuban government for the hiring of medical personnel back under scrutiny.
