Let’s be misinformed. Members of the All Rights for All Network (TDT) demanded protection guarantees after a new raid on the organization’s offices located in San Juan Cotzocón, Oaxaca.
Ciarena is an organization of Zapotec, Chinantec, Mixe, Mixtec, Chatino, and Afro-Mexican women dedicated to “Promoting gender equality, respect for human rights and women’s rights, as well as their empowerment in different areas.”
The access door to Ciarena’s office, located in María Lombardo de Caso, municipality of San Juan Cotzocón, was breached again. The TDT Network reported the incident as a security incident and raised concerns about the situation, demanding protection for the team and its director, Silvia Pérez Yescas.
According to the organization, this latest raid adds to a series of attacks and harassment they have suffered for their work defending Indigenous rights and as human rights defenders. They note with concern that these actions are part of a strategy to persecute their work.
