After a new concrete collapse was reported from the roof of the Loma Larga Tunnel, heading south to north, the Monterrey government announced the complete closure of the tunnel for two consecutive nights.
The closure will be in effect from 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, to 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, and again from 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, to 5:00 a.m. on Friday, July 5.
Although no structural damage that would compromise the tunnel’s stability has been detected so far, authorities indicated that a detailed technical study will be conducted to determine the type of remediation necessary and prevent future incidents.
Given this situation, drivers are urged to consider alternate routes during established hours to avoid setbacks.
