An armed attack left two people dead and two wounded last night south of the city of Tapachula, on the border with Guatemala, security sources reported.
The shooting occurred around 9 p.m. Sunday in the Nuevo Milenio neighborhood, in a location known as Camino Viejo (Old Road) in the neighboring municipality of Mazatán.
At the scene, two young men, identified as Kevin Cabrera González and Erick López Macario, both 20 years old, died after receiving multiple gunshot wounds.
The wounded were identified as Yaneth de León González, 23, and Cristian Jiménez, 21, who were treated by Civil Protection paramedics and taken to the local General Hospital.

Meanwhile, agents from the State Attorney General’s Office carried out the legal procedures to transfer the bodies to the SEMEFO (Secretary of the Interior) and initiate an investigation into the double homicide.
According to the initial lines of investigation, the crime could be related to drug dealing, a police source said.
