A fine of 50,000 pesos will be imposed on drug dealers in San Juan Chamula, Chiapas.

Meanwhile, those who consume these substances must pay a fine of 5,000 pesos.

This was determined by the Tzotzil community in accordance with their customs and practices and following a consensus-based decision.

Therefore, municipal authorities ordered the installation of signs indicating that fines will be applied based on customs and practices.

It is important to note that it is not specified whether drug dealers will be brought before the federal or state prosecutor.

One of the signs posted states: “By community agreement, Bautista Chico is strictly prohibited. The sale and consumption of all types of drugs will be punished. Anyone caught doing so will be fined.”

People who sell or consume alcoholic beverages and urinate in public will also be fined.
