Molote Fair; Do you know where the word “molote” comes from?

The word “molote” comes from the Nahuatl word “moloctic,” and this dish is a Mexican corn-based snack made in various states across the country. Such is the case in Puebla, where the 13th edition of the Molote Fair will be held.

Molotes, a part of Mexican cuisine, are a type of stuffed empanada that is easy to prepare and requires few ingredients.

Their filling and shape vary depending on the state in which they are prepared. For example, in Oaxaca, potatoes and chorizo are used as fillings, and they are shaped like small cigars.

It’s worth noting that this dish is believed to have originated during the colonial period, as it is the result of a fusion of pre-Hispanic and Spanish cuisine.
