With the goal of bringing its publishing portfolio to new audiences, El Colegio de México (Colmex) opened its first bookstore in the heart of Mexico City’s Historic Center, within the Un Paseo por los Libros cultural circuit, at location 22B of the Zócalo-Pino Suárez Passage.

This opening represents an effort to democratize access to the knowledge generated by one of the country’s most prestigious public academic institutions. Colmex becomes the second university press to operate in this space, alongside the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

The bookstore offers the most comprehensive selection of Colmex books in the entire country. It will feature more than 1,000 titles between books and journals, and a total of 4,443 copies available, covering topics in the social sciences and humanities: sociology, gender studies, literature, linguistics, economics, demography, environment, urban planning, international relations, political science, Asian and African studies, and history. Furthermore, new releases arrive practically from the printing press, making it a constantly updated point of sale.

The inauguration took place this Thursday, July 24th, in store 22B of the passage. Dr. Silvia Giorguli, president of El Colegio de México, and Gabriela Said, Director of Publications, participated in the event, offering a few words about the importance of the project. With this addition, the institution expands its presence in the heart of the capital and strengthens the dissemination of its academic research.

The space will be open to the public Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. For more information, please call (55) 5491 1931.
