Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) announced on Monday that it has launched the Transpacific Latin Pacific 8 (TLP8) service, with a direct connection between China and Mexico, with transit times of 16 and 20 days from Qingdao to Ensenada and Manzanillo, respectively.
The full TLP8 rotation will be as follows: Shanghai – Qingdao – Ensenada – Manzanillo – Ensenada – Yokohama – Shanghai.
The new service joins OOCL’s existing TLP1, 2, 5, and 6 routes, which connect to Latin American markets.
OOCL also joins the group of shipping companies, both Eastern and Western, deciding to create direct shipping routes between Asia and Mexico, as part of the Latin American country’s growth in merchandise imports.
For the first six months of this year, Mexican Pacific ports received a total of 1,326,546 20-foot import containers (TEUs), 1.9% more than the same period last year, according to statistics from the General Coordination of Ports and Merchant Marine of the Navy.
OOCL indicated that TLP8 will begin on August 20, 2025, sailing from the port of Shanghai, China.
