Agents from the Yucatán Public Security Secretariat (SSP), in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office and Mexico City authorities, arrested a man who had been a fugitive since 2016 for his alleged involvement in the crime of rape.

The detainee, identified as Arturo “N,” 47, was wanted on an arrest warrant issued in the country’s capital. According to the investigation, he allegedly entered a home in the Xochimilco borough where the victim was located, and committed the abuse using physical violence and threats.

According to the report, the man warned the minor that he would harm her and her family if she revealed what had happened, which kept the case quiet for years.

After intelligence and location work, investigating officers managed to locate him in Yucatecan territory, where he was arrested without incident. He was later handed over to officers from the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office for transport.

Arturo “N” will be brought before the Control Judge who issued the arrest warrant, to face the corresponding judicial proceedings for the acts of which he is charged.
