Buses increase at the Mazatlán Bus Station

During the summer vacation period, bus activity at the Mazatlán Bus Station has increased, going from 160 to between 180 and 190 daily departures, following a reduction due to the violence in the region that affected service in previous months.

Terminal manager Álvaro Peña Torres noted that prior to the criminal events affecting the region, bus trips were running up to 200 daily, a figure that has since been drastically reduced.

“We were experiencing a loss of our usual 200 trips. Due to the security issue, we now have 160, which has reduced our traffic by almost 15 percent,” he explained.

Peña Torres points out that once summer vacation began, bus traffic began to increase.

“At the start of the summer vacation period, we’re experiencing a 10 percent recovery. We’re seeing runs of 170, 180, and we hope to finish the season recovering that 15 percent to reach 200 daily departures,” he indicated.

The manager indicated that most of his units’ departures occur on weekends.

“Weekends are when we have the most departures; we’re reaching 190. We hope to close out the season well,” he said.
