Key tourism cities such as Mazatlán, Los Mochis, and Topolobampo—the latter two in the municipality of Ahome—have been exempted from the travel advisories recently issued by the United States for its citizens, indicated Sinaloa Governor Rubén Rocha Moya.
He noted that this indicates confidence in local, national, and foreign visitors to travel to these destinations within Sinaloa, which is positive for tourism.
The state executive emphasized that it is important to highlight the positive side of Mazatlán, as the “warning” has practically been lifted, indicating that travel to the pearl of the Pacific, the city of Los Mochis, and the Port of Topolobampo is now possible.
He commented that in the past, alerts have been issued in the United States recommending that its citizens not travel to these important sun and beach destinations located in the state of Sinaloa.
He clarified that each country has the right to make recommendations to its citizens regarding their travels; therefore, Sinaloa, like the rest of the states included in the recent alerts, is respectful of each country’s decisions and policies.
Rocha Moya stated that security, proximity, and assistance operations, specifically designed by the three levels of government in these same cities, have been maintained in Sinaloa. This has been demonstrated by the celebrations of festivals, such as the traditional carnival and the Easter and Summer vacation periods.
