Mazatlán strengthens its position as one of Mexico’s top international cruise destinations. During August, the Sinaloa port welcomed more than 13,000 visitors aboard three vessels, closing the first eight months of 2025 with a total of 245,353 passengers from 66 cruise ships.

According to figures from the Sinaloa Tourism Secretariat, the estimated economic impact for this period exceeds 375 million pesos, thanks to the arrival of visitors who enjoy the city’s beaches, cuisine, traditions, and characteristic hospitality.

“Each arrival strengthens Mazatlán’s position as a world-class tourist port and generates direct benefits for the local economy,” said Mireya Sosa Osuna, state Tourism Secretary, highlighting the importance of cruise ships like the Carnival Panorama, which disembarked 4,543 passengers and 1,431 crew members on its last visit.

In the monthly breakdown, March saw 15 vessels and 57,579 visitors, followed by January with 13 cruise ships and 48,351 passengers. This summer, the steady flow of vessels confirms the port’s importance.

Nationwide, cruise tourism also maintains a positive trend. The federal Ministry of Tourism reported that, between January and June 2025, 5.6 million cruise passengers arrived in Mexico, representing an 8.4 percent increase over the same period last year.

The main receiving ports are Cozumel and Mahahual (Quintana Roo), Ensenada (Baja California), Cabo San Lucas (Baja California Sur), and Puerto Vallarta (Jalisco). However, Mazatlán stands out for its consolidation as a strategic port of call in the Mexican Pacific, with 55 cruise ships arriving with 162,526 passengers from January to June, according to data from the federal Ministry of Tourism.

Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, emphasized that the strengthening of the National Port System and the investments announced by President Claudia Sheinbaum will further boost the arrival of cruise ships to the country, generating opportunities for economic development and well-being in coastal communities.
