To promote water conservation among Mazatlán families, the Mazatlán government and ARCA Continental partnered to launch the “Save a Sprinkle” program. 1,500 eco-friendly showers were delivered to residents of different parts of the port.

Through the City Council’s Department of Well-being and Social Development, thousands of families from neighborhoods such as Urías, El Castillo, Santa Fe, Rincón de Urías, Palmares, Santa Teresa, and Rafael Buelna benefited from these devices, which will help save water and reduce their bills.

The shower distribution took place at the Democracia Elementary School in Urías, in an event led by Mayor Estrella Palacios, who was accompanied by Alberto de la Garza, the regional director of ARCA Continental; Francisco Javier García, the director of Well-being and Development; and Jorge González Naranjo, the general manager of Jumapam.

“This gesture is an investment in the future of Mazatlán because every drop we save today becomes water available for tomorrow, and in a municipality like ours, which is always developing, welcomes visitors, and cares for its natural resources, water is life,” said Palacios Domínguez.

“With these showers, we will benefit seven neighborhoods. We are committed to reporting on the water saved through our colleagues at Jumapam, because what is measured improves, and we want Mazatlán to be an example of how we care for water here. I know that with the efforts of each family and the commitment of businesses, we will make our water go further.”

Officials indicated that thanks to the new eco-friendly showers, Mazatlán families will be able to save up to 60 percent of the water used in their homes, while also contributing greatly to the conservation of this natural resource.

For his part, De la Garza said he was excited to collaborate with the Mazatlán government to support this type of program. He added that donations of eco-friendly showers will continue soon to benefit more Mazatlan families.

As a symbolic act, authorities handed out watering cans to five residents: Bertha Torres Contreras, Ruth del Carmen Rendón, Juan Reyes Espinoza, Hilario García Morales, and Consuelo Vázquez Pérez.
